Tigers Telling Truths: From Protest to Change to Healing

On the eve of Juneteenth 2020, University of Missouri alumni who experienced protests and racial tension on campus in 2015 help us make sense of what’s happening nationwide five years later in this live event organized by Mizzou Black Alumni Network NYC, Mizzou NYC, and Mizzou Chicago

The alumni panelists discuss how their pivotal experiences at Mizzou shaped their perspective and actions after civil unrest erupted across the United States in June 2020, and they offer suggestions moving forward.

Panelists:

  • Payton Head; Speaker and Change Agent, University of Missouri Student Body President during the 2015 Hunger Strike and Campus Protests (BA 2016)
  • Jazmin Burrell; Creative Strategist at Snapchat (BJ 2015)
  • Ayanna Poole; Educator, Author, National Activist & Concerned Student 1950 Founding Member (BA 2015)

The conversation was moderated by Melody Myers (BJ 2016), associate producer at CNBC and president of NYC’s Mizzou Black Alumni Network chapter.

A recording of the event is available on YouTube.
