We can all relate to the feelings of excitement — and uncertainty — that come with moving to New York City. It takes hard work and a lot of patience to call yourself a New Yorker. MizzouNYC wants to make the process a little easier for Mizzou alumni who move to New York City, which is why we’re gathering your best tips for navigating the Big Apple.
Look out of for these worksheets (see image below) at our football watch parties and share your best tips! We’ll be collecting all this information to create a guide for new Tigers in the city. Questions? Email info@mizzounyc.com
Join us on October 5 for a networking happy hour with alumni, faculty and students on the terrace at the Ainsworth Midtown. The event is FREE, but please register here.
For the last 19 years the SEC Alumni in New York City have kicked off the season together on the Wednesday before the first game of season. This year’s party will be August 31st from 5:30-9pm at Ainsworth Park (11 East 18th Street btw Park & Irving). Ainsworth Park is one of the best sports bars in the cities and with its completely open front and outdoor seating will be a great place to kick off the start of the SEC season.
They’ll have beer and bourbon specials, half off wine by the glass, the SEC Network on dozens of HD flat screens, and great music to get everyone ready for the season ahead. Last year’s party had over 500 guests over the course of the evening. Make sure you’re there to meet other SEC Alumni in the city and be ready for the start of the most wonderful time of the year.
The New York Alumni Chapter is seeking to raise $25,000 over five years, to establish a permanently endowed fund at MU. After consultation with the MAA, the Board of Directors of the New York Alumni Chapter will determine annually the areas to receive support from the endowment. Our chapter is also excited to annually grant select MU students funds toward costs associated with study and work opportunities in New York City, such as internships and academic trips to the city.
